Old Markham Village, Markham ON
Create a bright, modern office suite in the basement of a building designated under the Ontario Heritage Act.
Built in 1881, the basement in question was actually originally home to the town’s holding cells and no one wanted the employees to feel like they were prisoners at work! We had to bring this space into the 21st century without compromising an inch of its historical integrity.
Glass walls and an abundance of recessed lighting reflecting beautifully off the gleaming natural toned wood floors converted a dismal workspace into a cheerful, innovative office suite. A polished, sleek foyer with an updated elevator completed the transformation, achieving the much desired upbeat contemporary effect they were after.
